Write to your Members of the European Parliament

Can you contact a Member of the European Parliament and ask them to vote against the reform of the European agricultural budget?

Here are some talking points - but it’s always most effective when you write in your own words:

  • The reform is a threat to biodiversity and the planet: Weakening or eliminating environmental standards in farming makes it harder to combat climate change and biodiversity loss
  • The reform fails to address the real needs of farmers. Small and organic farmers have already published a statement saying that they are against this reform
  • The only ones benefiting from this reform are huge industrial agriculture and big players like Bayer-Monsanto - not farmers

And here are some tips on how to structure your message:

  • Be personal: we know personal messages are more impactful. Speak from the heart and explain why you care about a clean and safe environment.
  • To the point: try to keep your message short.
  • Ask for a response: It’s always worth making clear that you’d like them to consider your message and respond.
  • Don’t forget to say thank you and sign your message.
