Write to MEPs: reject Trump’s trade deal
Trump is an unreliable partner. If we can convince enough Members of the European Parliament to vote against the EU-US trade deal tomorrow, we can make sure that Europe stays committed to its climate goals and stands up to bullies.
Some tips for writing to EU decision-makers and urging them to take action:
- Start with a greeting: e.g.: Dear Member of the European Parliament,
- Introduce yourself briefly: say who you are, where you're from, and why you care about the trade deal and Europe’s sovereignty.
- State your request directly: ask them to vote no tomorrow.
- Be respectful and clear: strong arguments work better when they're polite.
- Keep it short: 2-4 paragraphs are more than enough!
- End with a hopeful tone: show this is about creating positive change.
- Sign with your name.
Short on inspiration? You can base your message on a version of any of these (feel free to mix them up!):
- Reject the EU–US trade deal instead of conceding to Trump’s pressure and unpredictability.
- Ensure that amid a looming energy crisis, Europe invests in clean, homegrown energy and long-term resilience, not dependency on unreliable leaders.
- Block any fossil fuel imports tied to the EU-US trade deal.
- Stop any unfair tariff deals that harm European workers and businesses.
- Make sure the EU can respond to future trade threats.
