Email your national football association: Infantino must go
Football should be for everyone. But Gianni Infantino just tried to sell off the World Cup to the highest bidder. Every country in Europe is deciding right now whether to keep backing him as the leader of global football.
It’s more powerful for the football associations to receive individual, personalised emails so we won’t provide a template. But here are some things you can mention in your email:
Please note: Denmark, Croatia, England, Finland, Germany, Greece Norway, Romania, Serbia, Sweden and Wales have removed public support for Infantino already, but they can still publicly back the call for the FIFA ethics committee to investigate Infantino. If you’re based in any of these countries, please make sure to adapt your email accordingly.
- Start with a greeting and introduce yourself.
- Make it personal: Say why you care and why this matters to you personally.
Use your own words, but you can use the following for inspiration:
- I'm writing as a football fan who believes football should belong to everyone, not be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
- Gianni Infantino tried to sell off the World Cup. He also handed Trump a made-up peace prize and made an inconvenient red card disappear for the US team. This man is not fit to lead FIFA.
- Other national associations, including England, Wales, Serbia and Sweden, have already withdrawn their support. I'm asking you to do the same.
- I call on you to publicly remove your support for Infantino’s re-election as FIFA leader. Please also back an urgent investigation into his conduct by the FIFA ethics committee.
- Football fans across the world are watching how you respond to this situation. I hope you choose to stand up for the integrity of the game.
- Sign with your name.
