Email European leaders now
Can you contact the Norwegian, Belgian and Danish heads of government and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and ask them to recognise the Palestinian voice and future?
Follow the simple instructions below and if you need some inspiration we have suggested some talking points.
Some top tips:
- Be personal: we know personal messages are more impactful. Speak from the heart and explain why you care about the Palestinian voice and future.
- To the point: try to keep your message short.
- Ask for a response: It’s always worth making clear that you’d like them to consider your message and respond.
- Don’t forget to say thank you and sign your message.
A few key talking points for inspiration:
- Explain why you care about a world built on peace, respect and dignity or why you are worried about the people of Gaza.
- To end the horrors in Gaza, the Westbank, and Israel - everyone needs a place to belong and an equal voice. But Palestinians are not recognised as a people. And so they are denied a voice in conversations about how to end the violence today or rebuild their homes tomorrow.
- Over half the world acknowledges the Palestinian people’s right to belong in a state of their own. But Europe is one of the major nay-sayers, while we want Europe to be a force for good.
- Explain that you are contacting them now as the Belgian, Norwegian and Danish governments have been rumoured to be among those joining Spain and Ireland in recognising Palestine.
- Already eight EU countries recognise Palestine. Just a few more countries joining on Tuesday, would mean more EU countries recognise Palestine than keep them without a state of their own.
- With Israeli forces now poised for attack on Rafah’s borders, it feels like it’s now or never for drastic action for peace. We hope the countries of Europe will seize it and be a force for good.
