Stand up for Gaza: Write to your minister of foreign affairs and EU leaders
Israel is deliberately starving Palestinians in Gaza. Right now, after huge public pressure, European foreign ministers are deciding whether to suspend the EU’s trade ties with Israel – the EU-Israel Association Agreement – to pressure Israel to stop the aid blockade.
Send EU foreign ministers, and the EU’s top diplomats, a message to demand they cut financial and military ties with a government starving and bombing civilians in Gaza. Use the box to write something direct, personal, and impossible to ignore.
Suggested points to include:
- Start with: Dear EU leaders,
- Say why you’re writing: Mention your outrage over the killing and starvation of civilians, and Europe’s ongoing complicity through trade and arms export.
- Be clear in your ask: Urge your foreign minister and EU leaders to support suspending the EU-Israel Association agreement, stop arms exports, and impose sanctions on those responsible.
- Remind them they represent you: Let them know: you didn’t vote for war crimes. They act in your name — and you expect them to act now.
- Use examples: Mention that countries like Ireland are already moving to ban trade with Israeli occupied territories — and that your country should follow their lead.
Tips:
- Add a subject line: Choose something strong, e.g. Suspend EU-Israel trade now or End complicity with war crimes
- Sign your name and country: They are more likely to respond when they see you’re a real constituent.
- Be personal: Just a few honest lines about why this matters to you can be powerful.
- Be respectful but firm: They are more likely to engage with a civil message.
- Ask for a reply: Show them you’re paying attention — and expect an answer.
Let’s flood their inboxes and make it impossible to keep doing business as usual!
