No trade with War Criminals
To the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union
Petition
There can be no continuation of the EU-Israel Action Plan while the Israeli government systematically violates international law — from bombing civilians to deliberately starving the population in Gaza.
Under Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, cooperation must be suspended if one party commits grave violations of human rights. The conditions for suspension have clearly been met.
The Action Plan, which implements the Association Agreement, came up for renewal in January 2025. It cannot be renewed without the unanimous support of all 27 EU member states — and this is our chance to stop it.
We call on the European Commission, the European Parliament, and all EU Member States to act: suspend the EU-Israel Action Plan and end all cooperation with a government wanted for war crimes.
Why is this important?
The people of Gaza are living through two wars. One is fought with bombs and bullets, killing people every day. The other is fought with hunger — as food trucks line up at the borders, blocked from entering by Israeli forces.
Deeb, 56, has lost more family members than she can count. Now she spends her days searching for food for her grandchildren, whose teeth have started to crumble. [1] UNICEF workers are forced to split one child’s ration between two, just to give both a chance at survival. [2]
Today, EU foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss whether to suspend the EU’s trade deal with Israel — something EU law allows when human rights are violated. And they are: from bombings to starvation, these are deliberate acts by the Israeli government — and Europe has no excuse to look the other way. [3]
In 2024 alone, trade between the EU and Israel reached €46.8 billion. The EU is Israel’s biggest economic partner. It’s time to strike where it hurts: the money. [4]
For years, European leaders turned a blind eye. But now France, the Netherlands — even Germany — are joining Spain and Ireland in demanding action. [5]
As you read this, EU ministers are in the room deciding what to do. [6] The deal can’t be renewed without the agreement of all 27 countries — and that gives us power.
A wave of public pressure now could tip the balance. Even one country can stop this deal.
Deeb’s grandchildren are starving and cannot wait for action much longer. Trade with Israel must stop now.
