MEPs, Don’t Collaborate with Hate!
MEPs member to the EPP, S+D, Renew
Petition
Don’t collaborate with hate! We are calling on you as our MEPs to uphold democratic values.
Concretely, that means :
- Explicitly condemn far-right policies on immigration and the oppression of minority rights, including but not limited to LGTBQ+ and women's rights, standing against all forms of discrimination, especially hate speech.
- Refuse to cooperate with any coalition that could enable far-right policies to be implemented in the centre of European democracy, and refuse far right parties to join groupings like EPP, Renew and S+D
- Observe and condemn attacks on the freedom of expression, rule of law and fundamental rights in any country
- Protect the implementation of a socially responsible Green Deal
Why is this important?
Extremists may not have won a majority in the European elections, however our democratic values still hang in the balance.
Horse-trading has already begun for the top jobs in Europe, and decisions over who holds the keys to the direction of Europe will be made. [1]
Extremists and neo-fascists who for years have stifled debate and democracy in the chambers of the European Parliament are now closer to power than ever before. But, only if the three parties who won the most seats, the European People's Party (EPP), the Socialist and Democrats (S&D, and Renew (ALDE) choose to play ball with them.[2]
That's where you come in, Friend. Political groups are now bustling around Brussels and MEPs are about to be pulled in a million directions, as people vie for their attention. That's why it's so important that they here from you to let them know where you stand: no extremists in power.
The far-right have been angling for power and influence in Brussels, so they try to roll back climate protections, remove
our freedom to love whomever we want, and blame problems those seeking safety from war under the guise of security. [3]
We can't stand back while extremists mainstream their views in European democracy. Tell your MEPs that you want them to condemn extremist policies and you reject the centre-right cozying up to the far right.
