Stop the EU-Israel trade agreement!
Council of the EU, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Heads of States and European Commission
Petition
We call on the European Union to end the EU-Israel Association Agreement due to Israel's violation of Article 2, which specifies that relations between the parties “shall be based on respect for human rights and democratic principles”.
Why is this important?
A critical moment is coming for the people of Gaza.
After more than half a year of the offensive in Gaza and over 30,000 Palestinians killed, the European Union has finally summoned Israel and the 27 member states to a high-level meeting to discuss this massacre. [1]
This meeting will take place within the framework of the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel, which aims to promote economic relations between both parties.
This is the perfect time to increase pressure on our representatives to end the suffering of the Palestinian people. Let's say it out loud: If there is no ceasefire, we want the end of economic cooperation with Israel!
This would mean a hard blow to the Israeli economy and send a powerful message from the EU, which has acted so far as a complicit party to Netanyahu's regime. Moreover, the treaty includes an explicit commitment to human rights and democratic principles, something Israel is systematically violating, turning Gaza into the most dangerous place in the world for children.
In four months, more Palestinian children have died than in all the wars in the world in recent years. [2] This has to stop. Looking the other way makes us complicit, and as EU citizens, we have the power and responsibility to do everything possible to end this genocide.
