Across Europe people are standing up for what is right and just. We are calling on our European leaders to break free from Trump and Putin’s gas and to double down on a fair, green and secure future.
- Stop the ongoing build-out of fossil gas and LNG infrastructure.
- Prioritise scaling up energy saving and accelerate the building of cheap, renewable and homegrown energy.
- Start a rapid and fair gas phase-out.
Why is this important?
This could be the moment we break free from fossil fuels.
Donald Trump is using his trade wars to blackmail Europe into buying more fossil gas from the US. He and his rich pals want to make billions from yet more fossil expansion - or as they put it: drill baby drill. [1]
We’ve seen how Europe's addiction to fossil gas makes us dependent on unpredictable authoritarian leaders. First we were chained to Putin's gas, and now we are chained to Trump Gas. [2]
But we can free ourselves. The alternatives are already there with renewable sources of energy rapidly increasing across the EU. [3]
With Trump pressuring our leaders to buy even more fossil gas, they are looking for ways right now to stand up to Trump and protect European interests.
We can make clear that the Europe we want to protect is one of a fair and green future. And pressure our political leaders to break free from Trump Gas.
