No more corruption: let’s clean up EU politics!
To the European Parliament
Petition
We call on our representatives to finally enforce strict anti-corruption and transparency rules in the European Parliament, including:
- Banning side jobs (paid or unpaid) that create conflicts of interest for MEPs.
- Establishing an independent ethics body with real powers to investigate and sanction misconduct.
- Making transparency truly mandatory—every meeting in the lawmaking process must be logged in a public register.
- Closing the revolving door—extend the cooling-off period so former MEPs cannot immediately become lobbyists.
Why is this important?
Another corruption scandal is rocking the halls of power in Brussels. A handful of members of the European Parliament are accused of accepting money from tech giant Huawei in exchange for political favors. [1] Sounds familiar?
Just two years ago, we saw European politicians arrested for pocketing cash to serve the Qatari government’s interests. [2] That scandal—Qatargate—outraged us. And together, we took action.
Thousands of us flooded MEPs’ inboxes, demanding tougher rules against corruption and shady lobbying. They listened—sort of. The reforms they passed weren’t nearly strong enough, but without public pressure, they wouldn’t have acted at all. [3]
Now, with the second corruption scandal driving media attention, politicians can’t hide. They won’t fix this on their own–but they will have to respond if we make enough noise.
Let’s show our representatives we’re still watching and won’t let them get away with cosmetic changes anymore. Add your name now to demand real transparency in EU politics.
