Make coffee fair for people and the planet
To the coffee industry: especially Illy, Lavazza, Costa Coffee, Rainforest Alliance
Petition
- End child labor and modern slavery in your entire supply chain through rigorous monitoring, effective remediation, and strong prevention measures.
- Guarantee a living income for coffee farmers by ensuring fair and stable prices for coffee.
- Adopt comprehensive human rights policies that cover your entire supply chain, from farm to cup.
- Conduct regular, unannounced inspections to enforce ethical labor standards and prevent exploitation.
- Ensure your coffee is deforestation-free by committing to sustainable sourcing practices that protect forests and biodiversity.
Why is this important?
Imagine waking up before dawn to pick coffee berries in the fields for 17 hours, with no clean drinking water, toilet, or contract. Your employer has even robbed you of your ID, keeping you trapped.
For countless workers worldwide, our morning cup of coffee comes at the cost of their freedom. In Brazil alone, between 1996 and 2023, over 3,700 workers were rescued from slavery-like conditions on coffee farms. [1]
Companies like Illy, Lavazza and Costa Coffee buy coffee from these farms while claiming to be fair. [2]
These coffee giants thrive on a feel-good image. They spend millions convincing consumers they’re ethical, while turning a blind eye to modern slavery.
But you have the power to help end this abuse.
We’ve partnered with activists who know this industry inside out. They know exactly which coffee companies are vulnerable to pressure from people like us. When thousands of us shine a light on their coffee scam—they’ll be forced to finally clean up their act.
Our coffee shouldn’t cost anyone their freedom. Will you add your name and demand truly fair coffee?
