Keep Banned Pesticides Out of our Food

Ministers and Members of the European Parliament
Petition
We call on EU Member States and the European Parliament to:
- Reject the EU-Mercosur trade deal, which would allow food grown with pesticides banned in Europe to flood our markets, endangering public health and the environment.
- Uphold EU food safety standards by preventing toxic pesticide loopholes that benefit big agribusiness at the expense of farmers, consumers, and biodiversity.
- Ensure fair trade policies that protect European farmers and promote sustainable agriculture instead of prioritizing corporate profits.
We must not let trade agreements undermine the health and environmental protections that Europeans fought hard to achieve. Stop this toxic trade deal—protect our health, farmers, and planet!
Why is this important?
Trump’s tariffs on the EU have sparked panic in Brussels. But at the same time as selling out to Trump, they’re rushing to sign off on another dangerous deal – to secure free trade with South America. [1]
If the Mercosur trade deal passes, more toxic pesticides will end up in our food. [2] Europe’s farmers will struggle even more, undercut by cheap imports of beef, soy and other products that don’t have to follow European environmental standards. The EU will also be part of destroying hectares of forests in South America and displacing indigenous communities. [3]
This week, the European Commission will send the treaty to EU countries and the European Parliament for approval.[4]
The good news? Major governments like France and Poland oppose the deal, and it can’t pass without a strong majority.
Politicians are already under pressure after agreeing to Trump’s tariffs. Together let’s expose how the EU is risking our climate and food standards again in another toxic trade deal. More than 90,000 people have already joined. Add your name now to protect our food, our farmers, and our forests.
