For a welcoming Europe!
To the Members of the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of the European Union
Petition
The European Commission’s new Deportation Regulation would tear families apart, expand detention, and turn migration into a business for private security and surveillance companies.
We call on the EU to choose care, dignity, and humanity - not fear and profit.
We urge you to:
- Reject the Deportation Regulation in its current form;
- Stop outsourcing migration control to private corporations and third countries;
- Invest in protection, inclusion, and safe pathways for people on the move.
Europe must stand for human rights, not human suffering.
Why is this important?
Freddie Mercury is shining again on a giant London billboard with one simple truth: Thank god for immigrants. [1]
It’s a reminder that migration built the Europe we love - our nurses and doctors, our teachers and artists, our neighbours and friends. But right now, in Brussels, politicians are pushing laws that would silence that truth.
As you read this, private security and detention companies are lobbying behind closed doors in Brussels - pushing a plan to send people away instead of protecting them. [2]
A law that would tear families apart, send people to countries they barely know, and even lock children in detention camps, cut off from schools, lawyers, and care. [3]
This isn’t the Europe we believe in. And it’s not the Europe we want to become.
Across the continent, hundreds of organisations are already raising their voices, and even some governments are questioning this path. [4]
But the most powerful voice is still missing: that of regular people like you and me. Every movement that ever changed Europe started when people like us decided to speak out - and refused to look away. Add your name to say: not in my name!
