Europe must act to stop Sudan’s genocide
To Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
Petition
We call on the European Commission to:
- Suspend trade discussions with the UAE until it ends support for the Rapid Support Forces.
- Increase humanitarian aid and access to Sudan and neighboring countries.
- Propose a strengthened EU sanctions package under the EU Global Human Rights. Sanctions Regime, including financial sanctions, travel bans, and asset freezes.
Why is this important?
In Sudan, a genocidal war has killed more than 150,000 people. And now satellite images show something unimaginable— blood from mass killings visible from space [1].
Yet, the EU is pressing ahead with trade talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), even as credible evidence shows that the UAE is backing one side of the brutal conflict. [2,3]
You can’t claim to stand for human rights while doing business with governments who bankroll massacres. We’ve seen this before. Gaza has shown us what happens when Europe turns a blind eye.
A new ceasefire in Sudan has been announced, and this is the moment when strong EU pressure could help push for a lasting peace. But right now, EU leaders ignore Sudan because it isn't making headline news, and that silence protects those in power.
Together, we can break that silence. By raising our voices now, we drag this crisis onto their desks and force Europe to live up to its own values — not reward regimes that bankroll mass violence.
Add your name to demand that the EU suspends trade talks with the UAE now and take action for peace in Sudan.
