Petition
We call on the European Commission - and especially Commissioners Reynders and Breton - to introduce binding legislation that requires:
1 Visible warning-style labels on consumer products made with:
- child labour
- forced labour
- dangerous, unregulated mining or extraction
- conflict minerals and ecologically destructive sourcing
2 Transparant digital traceability of all major components (e.g. kobalt, lithium, gold, textiles) showing:
- origin country
- working conditions
- percentage of profits received by workers
3 Accountability for importers and producers, even if violations occur deep in the supply chain.
The EU must ensure that no product is allowed onto our shelves without exposing the hidden suffering behind it. We're sold a future of clean energy and ethical consumption - but behind every ‘’green'' battery and shiny device lies a trail of child labour, toxic mines, and corporate silence.
It's time to bring the truth to the surface - and force corporations to face it too. Real sustainability begins with honesty.
Why is this important?
We're told that the future is clean, green and ethical - powered by electric cars, smartphones and renewable energy, but the reality behind these technologies is far from clean.
The batteries in our phones and EVs are built with cobalt mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where children work in toxic conditions, earning less than €2 a day. These people suffer in silence while corporations profit in the billions. And consumers are never told the truth.
If we truly care about sustainability and justice, we must stop hiding the human cost behind shiny technology. A visible, mandatory label would expose what's behind the product - and force companies to take real responsibility.
It's not just about transparency, it's about dignity, truth and a future that's fair for everyone - not just those at the top of the supply chain.
