We call on you to immediately:
- Guarantee the safe passage of the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza
- Facilitate the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza
- Guarantee compliance with international law by the State of Israel
- Impose sanctions on Israel and suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement
- Impose an EU-wide arms embargo on Israel
- Ensure EU compliance with ICC arrest warrants, and an end to Israel's genocide, occupation and colonisation of Palestine.
We urge global leaders to go beyond words - to take concrete, public action in support of this humanitarian mission and the rule of law.
Why is this important?
A humanitarian mission is under threat.
The Madleen, a humanitarian ship from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is sailing toward Gaza with food, medicine, and infant supplies. [1] On board are 12 humanitarians, including MEP Rima Hassan and Greta Thunberg, risking their lives to break the blockade and deliver essential aid. [2]
Since 2 March 2025, all aid access to Gaza has been shut down. [3] Dozens of children have died of starvation. Over 90% of Gaza’s population is at risk of famine. [4]
This is not a crisis—it is a genocide.
The Flotilla has been surveilled by Israeli ‘Heron’ military drones “battle-tested” on Gaza’s civilian population and deployed by EU coast guards [5], raising urgent fears of an imminent attack. A vessel from the same coalition was already targeted and destroyed by a drone on 2nd May near Malta [6].
The risk of a deadly attack is real - a naval commando is being prepared to stop the Flotilla from reaching Gaza. [7] The consequences of inaction are deadly for the people of Gaza and the Freedom Flotilla.
This mission is legal. The aid is urgent. The responsibility to act lies with all of us. UN member states have both a legal and moral obligation to end the famine and the crimes being committed in Gaza.
More than 200 entities and NGOs have already signed this demand for immediate action.
Millions of Palestinians face starvation. Aid must reach Gaza. The Freedom Flotilla must be protected.
