Why is this important?

800 billion euros. No, that’s not a typo. 

While millions of people across Europe struggle to pay for food, rent, and energy, the EU is pushing through plans to pour up to €800 billion into defence. [1] 

The European Commission is pushing new plans to get countries to increase their military budgets and get more weapons out into the world. [2]

Trump's attacks on Iran have pulled the whole region into total instability and violence. Now Europeans risk being pulled into a war we don’t want to be part of. 

Arms companies will cheer at their potential profits of yet another war. Meanwhile, Europeans are skipping meals, falling behind on rent, and choosing between heating their homes and buying food. [3]

Every euro channelled into wars and weapons is a euro taken away from healthcare systems under strain, affordable housing that never gets built, and support people urgently need right now.

National leaders decide on their defense spending. But when the EU encourages them to spend more on weapons, they listen.
