Fund peace not war
To the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union
Petition
We want a Europe that invests in peace, people and the planet, not destruction.
We demand that our leaders spend the billions destined for weapons on essential services instead; from pensions to schools, to healthcare, to safe food and housing.
Europeans do not want to fund efforts of regime change anywhere in the world. We believe in the right for people to determine their own futures and to that end - leave Venezuela to the Venezuelans and Iran to the Iranians.
Why is this important?
Trump just started another war nobody wants to fight. US and Israel’s illegal attacks on Iran are now quickly escalating. [1]
Everyday people like you and I hold our breath. But for every bomb dropped, there are those who cash in.
Because the business of war is SUPER profitable. And business is booming.
Only one European leader has condemned the attacks on Iran. [2] The rest have either said they’d join the US or have actively been preparing for war for months now. [3]
And they have been pouring money into the military. Building more tanks than trains, and more ammunition than ambulances [4] France has already reinstated voluntary military service. Other countries are openly discussing it. [5]
Every euro spent on the business of war is a euro less on healthcare, schools and decent jobs. [6] Widening the gap between those of us who pay, and those who profit.
But there is another path our leaders could take. Condemn violence. Defend international law. Leave Iran to the Iranians. And invest in healthcare, pensions, affordable and safe food instead.
More than a decade ago, millions of people across Europe refused to stay silent as leaders marched toward war. Now it’s our turn. Let’s build the biggest pro-peace movement in a generation. Add your name to join people across Europe demanding protection for people not profit for warmongerers.
