Make Polluters Pay, Fund Renewables
To the European Commission, European Parliament and EU Heads of State.
Petition
We want a Europe that works for people, not for fossil fuel profits.
Time and again, crises push up energy, food, and everyday costs. Companies make billions, and ordinary people are left to pay the bill. This must change.
Make polluters and war profiteers pay and use that money to invest in reliable, cheap, homegrown energy which lowers bills and strengthens our future for people and planet.
Why is this important?
Yesterday, leaders confirmed it: Europe is heading into another energy price shock. [1]
Prices are rising again - and people are being told to cut back. Work from home. Travel less. Use less energy. Sound familiar? [2]
In the last energy crisis, companies made huge profits while households struggled to keep up with rising bills.
Fossil fuel companies don’t pay. It’s you and I who foot the bill - paying more for energy, food, and everyday life. [3]
One month into this senseless, illegal war, Shell, Total, and warmongers like Trump are cashing in billions. US-based ExxonMobil is on track for record-breaking profits, all from a war that destroys lives. [4]
It doesn’t have to be this way. EU leaders stepped in and taxed oil and gas giants profiting from the war in Ukraine - raising €30 billion to support people through the crisis. [5]
Now, as prices rise again, that solution is back on the table in EU discussions. [6] We need to make it a reality.
Together, we can make polluters pay and use that money to protect people from price spikes and break free from fossil fuels.
Let’s make sure the companies profiting from war pay, not people.
