Stop the phone hackers
To the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union
Petition
We call on the EU to stop funding or investing in phone hacking technology or spyware from Israeli companies and the wider commercial spyware industry. Public money must never be used to support tools that can monitor journalists, activists, migrant-rights defenders, or ordinary people through their own phones. The EU must ban commercial spyware, cut all financial ties to the industry behind it, and protect people across Europe from unlawful digital surveillance.
Why is this important?
Right now, someone could read your messages, watch through your camera or track you. All without you knowing. [1]
In Europe, people helping migrants or exposing far-right lies can now be monitored on their phones - just like under Trump. [2]
Israeli corporations are making billions from cutting-edge phone hacking - exploiting their expertise in war and repression. [3]
It gets worse: a new scandal just revealed that the EU is funding this Israeli tech to monitor people like you and me. [4] And they refuse to stop.
Journalists are starting to expose this tech. Inside Parliament some are calling for a ban. Momentum is building around the scandal - but it could vanish fast.
Backing these lone voices up now with hundreds of thousands of signatures will give them the push they need to fight for a law that protects us.
Every time the counter goes up, we push the hackers away from our private lives.
