Demand safe, transparent period products
To the European Commission, European Parliament and Member States
Petition
We call on the EU to:- Require full ingredient transparency on all menstrual products.
- Introduce independent safety testing before period products reach consumers.
- Set stronger EU-wide safety standards that put people's health first.
Why is this important?
Would you buy food with no ingredient list?
That’s what I thought.
Yet millions of women and girls use period products every month without knowing exactly what's in them. Companies are not required to fully disclose the ingredients, or to have them independently tested.
And period products aren't something people use once or twice, many rely on them every month, for decades.
When scientists had a look they found traces of heavy metals, including lead and arsenic, in the tampons they tested. [1]
This affects almost every family in Europe. Your partner. Your daughter. Your granddaughter.
The good news is that this is fixable. We're calling on European decision-makers to require full ingredient transparency, independent safety testing and stronger standards for menstrual products.
It’s a simple, common-sense demand and if enough of us raise our voices, it becomes impossible to ignore. If a product goes inside our bodies, we deserve to know what's in it.
