Planes fuelled by clean fuel, not greed!
To the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union
Petition
EU leaders: don’t let Big Oil rewrite the law. It’s time to break with an aviation industry dominated by fossil fuels, which is dependent on imported fuels and extremely susceptible to the poly crises of the world right now. It’s time to generate home grown, clean fuels and 100.000 new aviation jobs in Europe. Uphold the ReFuelEU targets in full.
Why is this important?
Last minute flight cancellations. Standing hours in line and sleeping on airport floors. Desperately trying to change hotel bookings.
Many of us have one big summer holiday trip that we look forward to and save for all year. But what should be a moment to relax and enjoy, is now turning into a nightmare for holiday goers across Europe. [1]
The flight industry is reliant on fossil fuels - and who is left paying for this fossil fuel dependence? You and I. Passengers pay Big Oil an additional 85 euros per ticket, compared to if their flights were powered by renewables. [2]
The good news is that Europe has made a law that would force planes to be powered by home-grown, clean fuel. But once again Big Oil is standing in the way of the solutions we need.
Big corporations like BP, Shell and TotalEnergies are spending millions to weaken a law that could make us less dependent on destructive, imported fuels to travel the world, and create over 100.000 aviation jobs in Europe. [3]
Leaders are deciding whether to hold the line or give in to Big Oil’s demands. If thousands of us speak out now we can tip the scales in our favour.
