Stop Killer Robots
To EU Heads of State & Governments
Petition
Lead Europe in launching negotiations for a legally binding UN treaty on autonomous weapons.
We urge you to:
- Start negotiations now at the UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.
- Prohibit autonomous weapons that target people, and ban systems whose effects cannot be reliably predicted.
- Adopt clear international rules ensuring meaningful human control over every use of lethal force.
History will remember the governments that drew this moral red line.
Why is this important?
Killer robots. Machines. Deciding who lives and who dies. Children, ‘collateral damage’ in AI-led wars.
That isn't a future problem. It's happening now.
Governments and weapons companies are racing to develop autonomous weapons that can identify and attack people as “targets” with less and less human control. And the law is struggling to keep up. A UN expert warns that “we're dangerously close to crossing a moral red line”. [1]
A machine should never decide who lives and who dies.
Our best chance to regulate killer robots is weeks away, as leaders meet in person to discuss the subject. [2] The technical work is done. A draft exists. Some EU leaders have even shown support. [3] But before they take meaningful action, they need pressure from the public - that’s us.
Without it, negotiations could be delayed for years while these weapons kill indiscriminately.
When thousands of us speak with one voice, governments find the courage to act. Sign now and demand that Europe puts an end to this dystopia before it's too late. If we reach 100,000 signatures, we’ll make sure to bring them to the meeting!
