Petition
- Call to European Citizens:
Let us boycott the products of American companies that support or profit from this imperialist policy. Let us prioritize targeting multinationals complicit in Trump’s pressures—symbols of American hegemony (GAFAM, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, ExxonMobil, Netflix, ChatGPT). Let us take action to show our leaders the path of firmness. We are under threat; let us prepare.
- Call to European Governments:
Support Denmark and Greenland: Strengthen military and diplomatic presence to ensure their security. Accelerate strategic autonomy: Develop European alternatives in energy, digital technology, and defense.
- Call to European Businesses:
Move away from unreliable American digital solutions in the event of escalating tensions.
- Call to European Union Institutions:
Respond firmly: Impose immediate countermeasures (taxes on American products, freezing trade negotiations).
Set our counter-demands: No return to normalcy without the United States rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, committing to respect the WTO, the UN, and NATO, permanently abandoning any claim to Greenland, and requiring future congressional approval for any treaty withdrawal.
Invest in economic, technological, and military sovereignty: Reduce our dependence on the United States, starting with the adoption—like Brazil—of a payment system such as Pix to become independent from SWIFT.
Why is this important?
On January 16, 2026, Donald Trump announced the imposition of 10% tariffs (rising to 25% from June 1) on products from eight European countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland), unless Greenland is "sold" to the United States. Beyond being a personal delusion, this declaration violates international treaties (UN, WTO, NATO) and the U.S. Constitution itself.
For us Europeans, it evokes the darkest hours of history, when the failure to say no to an expansionist populist leader cost millions of european lives.
Europe can no longer remain silent. Greenland is not for sale. Denmark and its people have the right to decide their future without pressure, without blackmail, without threats.
Why this petition?
Violation of international law: These threats trample on WTO rules, the right of peoples to self-determination (UN), and NATO commitments.
Unacceptable economic blackmail: Trump is using tariffs as a weapon to impose his will—a practice worthy of authoritarian regimes. E
urope has already paid the price for its passivity in the 1930s. We will not stand idly by while the United States films its conquest of Greenland, content to comment on American social media. We must respond immediately and rise to the challenge to defend our freedoms.
