Tips:

Remember to start your message with who you are addressing - the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, the cabinet of De Croo - and to sign off with your name.
Write your message to those that have the power to protect our ocean. The postcards will have the most impact if you make the message personal. Imagine you are actually writing a physical postcard.
Write from the heart and remember to always be polite, let’s not give them an excuse not to engage with the postcards.

Talking points:

Mention why you care about the health of our ocean
Right now the Belgian government holds the Presidency of the European Union and needs to represent not just its own national interest but the interest of all Europeans at a key moment for the ocean. Ask them to make this moment count and act in the interest of all Europeans by showing love for the ocean.
Belgium wants to be known as a ‘Blue leader,’ ask them to make this truly count by acting with love for the ocean during their term and supporting a global moratorium on deep sea mining.
Marine scientists have warned that deep sea mining will release huge amounts of toxic sediments polluting our underwater ecosystems and compromising the ocean’s carbon pump. Not only this, they’ve also warned that the noise and light pollution is particularly harmful to endangered marine life, such as the Blue Whale.
