Protect local farmers: stop EU-MERCOSUR trade deal!
European Commission, EU Council, European Parliament, national governments and parliaments
Petition
Given the well documented high level of deforestation of the Amazon and human rights violations, we call on all European leaders to stop the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.
Why is this important?
Millions of farmers have taken to the streets all over Europe. Tractors are filling up the roads, demanding urgent solutions for a sector in crisis. [1] The European farming model has been unsustainable for a long time. Now, more than ever, we need to speak up for policies that help transition to sustainable agriculture, taking care of our planet and ensuring decent lives for those working in agriculture.
The free trade agreement known as EU-Mercosur spells trouble and puts European farmers at risk! [2] Imagine this: cheap beef flooding our markets, but at what cost? Local farmers going out of business and the destruction of forests in the Amazon.
Sign now to stop this harmful treaty.
