Petition
We call on you to:
- Demand that FIFA moves any World Cup matches due to be played in the US to alternative host countries.
- Pledge to boycott any matches not moved out of the US, in order to ensure the safety and security of all players and fans, regardless of their ethnicity or country of origin.
Why is this important?
There seems to be no red line Trump won’t cross.
One day he threatens to invade Greenland. Next, he defends ICE agents murdering protesters in the streets. [1]
This summer the men’s football World Cup will be co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.
But a country, like the US, that attacks protesters and snatches innocent people off the streets cannot ensure the safety of players and fans. Supporters from countries on Trump’s travel ban list - like Senegal, Ivory Coast, Iran and Haiti - won’t even be allowed to enter the US to support their teams. [2]
There’s an easy solution. Canada and Mexico are co-hosts. The matches planned for the US - including the big final - could and should be played there instead.
The global football governing body, FIFA has the final say. But national football associations like have huge power. [3]
Together we can turn up the pressure on them to take a stand: boycott any matches played in the US, unless they are moved. Add your name now to ensure the World Cup is a place that welcomes all fans and players.
