Why is this important?

In his small town, Gisèle Pelicot’s husband had no trouble finding 80 volunteers - from the nurse to the city councillor - to rape his wife.

With the trial now underway for her husband and 50 co-defendants, Gisèle’s horrific experience exposes a deeper crisis: men who were seen as trusted community members committed these crimes without fearing consequences. Justice is failing her, as it does countless others.

Thousands have raised their voices, demanding change. We need to pressure leaders across Europe to adopt strong anti-rape policies, including special task forces, prosecution of serial rapists, and a consent-based definition of rape.
